Eat & live like the person you want to be...
I believe the better one eats, the more balanced one becomes with exercise, which then frees up valuable time for experiences & reflection. Our keen edge is too often dulled by heavy eating & wasted further as we become drained trying to “work it off”.
In the moment, it’s easy to enjoy whatever treat is in front of you... or to grab that extra helping simply because it’s there.
What I find we need practice at, is considering the kind of person we’re going to feel like after...
It’s similar to drinking, it may seem to make you friendlier at first, but as you metabolize it the “ugly” effects begin to manifest.
And the next day? Well then you won’t be good for anything...
Your meals should be enjoyable not only when you are eating them, but in the hours & days to follow as well.
Moderation, discipline, knowing your body... these things are very important because they help your mind. They help you as a person, physically & mentally.
This doesn’t mean that you should eat the same thing every day, that it should be stripped of the flavours you enjoy, that you cannot indulge, that food isn’t both fuel & fun. We just need to balance & remain aware of why we’re eating at any given time, in comparison to our goals.
Remember, to eat well, is to live well...
